Welcome to
Copper Mountain Views!

Copper Mountain Ski Resort is one of Summit County, Colorado’s largest ski areas. Copper Mountain has over 2,400 acres to ski on. There are 125 trail runs in total and, at the peak of the winter season, there are twenty-two ski lifts operating. Copper Mountain has designed the ski runs to divide the level expertise of the skiers. By separating different skill levels, expert skiers and beginners do not cross paths. The easier ski runs begin on the western side of Copper Mountain Resort. The degree of difficulty of the ski runs become more and more difficult and steep as a skier moves east across the mountain at Copper. Almost half of the 125 ski runs at Copper Mountain are designated as beginner or intermediate. The rest of the runs are for expert or advanced skiers.

Copper Mountain is situated in a valley directly off Interstate-70. The closest city to Copper Mountain is the town of Frisco . Frisco is only a five-minute drive away. The outlet malls at Silverthorne are a short fifteen-minute drive east down Interstate-70. The town of Vail and the Vail Ski Resort is twenty-five miles west up Interstate-70. Copper Mountain, for many years, was considered more of a ski resort for local Coloradoans, but more and more people are discovering this resort. The ski resorts of Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin are all within a short driving distance also. Summit County offers a free shuttle bus to different areas in the county. The base elevation is at 9,712 feet with an elevation at the summit of 12,313 feet—giving Copper a vertical drop of 2,600 feet! Copper Mountain has four expert ski bowls on the two mountains above 12,000 feet. The four bowls are named Spaulding, Copper, Union, and Resolution. The main Terrain Park for snowboarders is the Catalyst Park. It can be accessed by the American Flyer lift. At the end of the Catalyst Terrain Park, the Super Pipe can be found. The Super Pipe is 430-feet long with 18-foot high walls and a 16-degree pitch. These areas are maintained nightly by Copper’s new Zaugg Pipe Monster and snowcats. The Zaugg Pipe Monster has been featured in the US Open Snowboarding Championship, the World Cup, and the ESPN Winter X-Games. No night skiing at Copper Mountain. Many people think that Copper has shorter waiting times for lifts and fewer lines. The busiest lifts in the resort are the American Eagle and the American Flyer. They are both quad lifts that service the Center Village of Copper Mountain.

Copper Mountain is divided into three different lodging areas. The areas are the East Village, the Village at Copper, and the western Union Creek. The Village at Copper is the main village and is also called Center Village. Staying in condos at Union Creek give you quick access to the beginner slopes while staying in the newer Center Village puts you in the focal point of nightly entertainment. There is an ice skating pond located on the West Lake in the Village. Free Tucker Mountain snowcat access is available dependent on current ski conditions. Tucker Mountain closes at 2 o’clock, but snowcat shuttles run from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Copper has a tubing hill in the East Village at the base of the SuperBee ski lift. Tickets can sell out quickly, so a reservation is always a good idea.

Copper Mountain has been owned by Intrawest since 1996. Intrawest owns three ski resorts in Colorado. They are Copper Mountain, Steamboat Springs, and Winter Park. Intrawest also owns Whistler-Blackcomb in British Columbia. Copper Mountain has many festivals during the summer months. The month of June will have Copper showcased as a two-night host during the “Bike Tour of Colorado.” In July Copper has their “3 Ring Weekend.” It consists of a two-day extreme challenge race, a concert, and fun children’s activities. July weekends also host the “Hawg Fest”, which is a combination of Harleyriders and rock concerts, and the first “US Half Marathon.” The month of August in 2007 will bring the “Copper Triangle” road cycling event and the 2nd annual “Mini Cooper Rally.” For a weekend in September, country music will be highlighted at Copper. Copper Mountain is a year-round resort for the family.
